It’s me, hi!

I'm Malorie Joy, but you can call me MJ. In my previous career as an industrial engineer and business consultant, I learned to appreciate how small, incremental changes add up. Now, as a therapist, I look for ways to optimize the human experience rather than striving for unattainable perfection.

My Philosophy:

  • Therapy is what you make of it. I work at your pace and ask specific questions to explore your thoughts and feelings. Clients who enjoy working with me are typically goal-oriented and motivated to make meaningful changes. Therapy can also help us become more self-aware and not take ourselves too seriously.

  • Goals should be dynamic. Together, we'll set goals for personal growth and wellness. We will aim for continuous incremental improvement rather than perfection and work on being kind to ourselves when we have non-optimal thoughts or actions.

  • You deserve a therapist who gets you. I'm a big believer in a strong therapeutic alliance, which is therapyspeak for the good vibes between you and your therapist. As a neurodivergent therapist, I can connect with you personally and understand your strengths and challenges more accurately.

  • Judgment-free zone. You are totally free to be yourself in the therapy room, and I will meet you where you are. I have a variety of fidget/stim toys and flexible seating for those of us who struggle to sit still (yep, that includes me).

  • An eclectic combination of modalities. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. We can focus on finding quick solutions to current problems (SFBT) or explore how past experiences shape current beliefs and behavior (Psychodynamic) for personal growth (Humanistic). Other times, we will aim to change negative thinking patterns and behaviors (CBT) while developing coping strategies and emotional regulation skills (DBT).

  • Performance-focused. I am passionate about promoting performance optimization, maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and preventing burnout. I believe that individuals can achieve success by prioritizing self-care and setting realistic goals without sacrificing their well-being.
